04.08.09 THIS AMERICAN LIFE LIVE
The kind folks at This American Life hired me to make a very special poster for their upcoming live show, broadcast to theaters everywhere on April 23. There will be a large, offset printed poster available for purchase soon that will be lovely and striking and generally pleasant. There will also be a slightly smaller but much more lovingly printed version available for free! That is correct: a hand printed, signed (by Ira Glass and myself) and numbered, limited edition poster that you can get free of charge! All you have to do is enter the contest and win one of the ten available! Click here for all of the details. Also, pick up tickets for this fantastic show before they are all gone.

08.22.08 Summertime is Pretty Nice

Two whole months since the last update, and a lot has been going on. As per usual the website has been sorely neglected. Thanks to everybody in Chicago for being so dang nice. Pickathon in August was an incredible blast of a festival. The big Bumbershoot in Seattle is coming up next weekend and the summer is flying past at breakneck speed. Got a few new posters and a whole bunch coming in September and October.

06.21.08 The Bonnaroo Poster Show

I don't think I can express enough gratitude for the kindness of the great citizens of the four day long world that is the 'roo. Thanks to everybody who had kind things to say about my weird posters. Thanks to Guy, Tuffy, Andy, Bridget, Ben, Pat, and Ricky for helping me out, watching my stuff when I wandered off, explaining the varieties of available Rickers (I will take mine icy thanks), and being the best camping buddies/booth mates a dude could ask for. Also, thanks to Emily for showing up just-in-time, every time.

SHIFT OPTION TALK

On April 8th the local chapter of the AIGA has asked me to speak at a little lunch event. I will talk a little about the process, answer some questions, and have some posters there to look at. If you are interested in attending and are in the Utah vicinity go here.

VEGOOSE 2007

This show has become a highlight of the year for me and hopefully they can pull it off again next year. It was great to see so many good friends out in the desert. If you missed it you can see what it was all about at http://www.vegoose.com.

09.12.07 Jamboree Music Festival

The first Jamboree festival was a lot of fun. We met a lot of great people at the poster show, and I ate so many tiger's blood snow cones that I could levitate and read people's minds (almost).

Flatstock 14 at the Bumbershoot
Music and Arts Festival

Thanks to everybody who braved the big bad Bumbershoot to make it out to see some show posters at Flatstock. Seattle, my beloved, I wish you all of the best until again we meet.

07.22.07 Flatstock 13 at the Pitchfork Music Festival

My first time in Chicago, and I fell completely in love with the city. Due to the sort of whirlwind nature of the trip I didn't get to see many "touristy" things but I did get to hang out with some of the greatest people I have ever met. I was also able to eat some good pizza. I met the most enchanting foul-mouthed waitress. I was able to see much of the beautiful industrial area due to my inability to write myself simple instructions. Chicago packs a lot of meat.

The festival itself was brilliant. I got a chance to see Iron and Wine again, as well as The New Pornographers. Yoko Ono was there too. People didn't seem to appreciate her or her gyrations. In fact, I think the only two downsides about the Chicago trip may have been the terrible mental images conjured by Yoko Ono and the fact that I nearly cut my big toe off. I should point out that the two incidents aren't related.

So my summer poster peddling tour continues. I hope to see you all at The Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle in September. Flatstock 14 baby!

SOUND IN PRINT: The Art of the Contemporary Music Poster:

March 12 – 30th, MTSU Todd Gallery

Sound in Print is a show that celebrates music poster art and design. Over 50 participants are expected to show approximately 250 limited edition posters that showcase a variety of art and design styles incorporating silkscreen and letterpress techniques. As well, Sound in Print is a confirmation and recognition of Tennessee’s place as a center for the music poster, as noted in Print Magazine, which has stated in recent issues that Tennessee has become synonymous with the hand-crafted poster. Visit Todd Gallery at MTSU to see a one of a kind show dedicated to artists & designers creating innovative and interesting images that resonate with the music consuming public.

Reception: Friday, March 23rd at 6:30pm
Gallery patrons will have the ability to purchase limited edition posters with proceeds going to the MTSU art scholarship fund.

09.11.06 FLATSTOCK TEN AFTERMATH and Other Stuff

I just wanted to thank everybody for the great time in Seattle. We had an awesome time as always. I would say that Flatstock Ten was the best poster show I have been a part of.

It looks like the big Vegoose show is going to have us back this year for a little exhibition. Head out to Vegas the last weekend in October and check out some great tunes, stop by the booth and say hi.

The Ben Harper poster that many of you have noticed should be on-sale at http://www.benharper.net soon. I will try and keep you updated when I hear anything about it.

Flatstock 8 at SXSW in Austin: If any of you are heading to the big SXSW festival in March please stop by Flatstock 8. This show is shaping up to be the biggest poster show so far and I am really looking forward to it. Swear to Save CBGB's: So I heard that the show at CBGB's was a big success. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to New York to see it all. I contributed the worried little guy pictured at the left. He may still be available at the gallery so go pick him or at least check out the show. If you want more info you can click here.

12.26.05 Happy Holidays: So it has been a really long time since the last update and I just wanted to drop in and say thanks to all the folks who have made this year great. I love what I do and I wouldn't be able to do it without your support. It really means a lot.

A Toy for CBGB's: There is a great big art show coming up on Valentine's Day to help save the historic concert venue CBGB's in New York. In addition to showcasing rock art, each of the artists involved will also be donating a custom vinyl SwearBear to the cause. I am honored to have been asked to participate and I look forward to tackling my first toy design. Please check out the Swear to Save CBGB's website for more info.
